An excellent resource that supports the process of school improvement planning is the ICA School Improvement Planning document (Jo Nelson from ICA delivered, among others, the Focused Conversation workshop).

Learning Improvement Plans - Schools are to include two goals from the first two CIP priority areas. A third goal realted to smooth transitions into and throughout the system is optional. (Please note that high schools may have two or three goals in the priority area of Higher Literacy and Achievement.)

Goal 1: CIP Priority Area: Higher Literacy and Achievement

  • CIP Priority Strategy: Alignment of system-level and school-based literacy and numeracy practices to enhance student achievement.
  • CIP Priority Strategy: The application of technology-enhanced learning to support student learning.

Goal 2: CIP Priority Area: Equitable Opportunities and Outcomes for All

  • CIP Priority Strategy: Ensuring increased awareness and understanding of First Nations and Métis cultures supporting equitable opportunities and outcome for students of First Nations and Métis ancestry.
  • CIP Priority Strategy: Ensuring that students have timely and appropriate programs and services to accommodate student needs and to access the curriculum.

Goal 3 (optional): CIP Priority Area: Smooth Transitions into and through the System

  • CIP Priority Strategy: Planning and support for the successful attachment, engagement and graduation of all RPS students.

CIP Priority Area: Governance, Facilities and Accountability

  • CIP Priority Strategy: Enhancing parent and community involvement in school level planning, programming and monitoring.
  • Reduce deferral of facility maintenance.
  • Renew and modernize two school facilities per year to meet current teaching methods and building requirements.
